When do I start brushing baby teeth?

Parents are often confused about when to brush baby teeth.

Brushing teeth is recommended to start when your baby has a few teeth.

Use a baby tooth brush, no toothpaste.  The brushing is the most important part of teeth care.

Toothpaste is not important until about 3 years of age when you can instruct him or her to spit excess out and they can do it.  Too much fluoride can lead to mottled teeth.

Oral hygiene is more important than toothpaste in preventing decay.

Also make sure to brush up and down and not across.  Where the gum margins meet our teeth is where decay starts.
Aim to make tooth brushing a normal part of the day. Usually at bathtime to start with.

I hope this gives you some ideas about  brushing your baby's teeth.
